Our nearest glaciated high mountains, the Alps, are the scene of numerous needless accidents every year, arising from a lack of knowledge of how to move on glacial terrain. In our course you'll learn to move on a glacier roped up. You'll practically rehearse rescuing someone who has fallen into a crevasse and hauling them back out. Part of the course is devoted to getting familiar with glacier terrain, and another part to the principles of proper acclimatization. We'll also briefly go over avalanche preparedness with an eye to Alpine conditions. We'll go over the procedures for a successful emergency bivouac in glacial conditions. On top of that, we'll make a few ascents of peaks in the cradle of alpinism. Knowledge of winter mountaineering technique and knot-tying is a recognizable advantage on this course.
"",2,[],"Glacier mountaineering course.","md",{},true,"/en/course/glaciercourse
en/course/glacierCourse",null,"nPdR2iqj7zbbtr5FiW5xA-3V9QrHvp-bb0Lt1JssfJg",1794135409528]
